2 Corinthians 1:6
If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer
Some people are confused by our passage today: Could it be that Paul's trials and distresses were the price he paid for the Corinthian's comfort and salvation? Perhaps, but Paul is really saying that all the suffering he endured was a direct result of his ministry to others.
Think about it -- people who only look for personal benefit from salvation won't experience as much persecution as those who seek to share the Gospel with others. Why? Because the real motive behind persecution is to silence anyone who becomes a channel of God's message of reconciliation and salvation through Jesus.
Is someone persecuting you aggressively? Could it be because the Holy Spirit has done His work of conviction in their life? Pray and ask the Lord for His Words of comfort and reconciliation. How can you share God's mercy and grace more directly?
